San Jose Municipal GC & Santa Teresa GC
Pacesetter Program
The way the game is meant to be played!

Enhancing the golf experience by obtaining golfer commitments to keep up with the group in front of them and not fall behind.

Slow play is caused by golfers not keeping up with the group ahead of them. We believe that a golfers pace of play is not necessarily linked to their ability or handicap. An ideal pace of play (all groups are positioned right behind the group in front of them) can be achieved when golfers:

   1. Are aware of their responsibility to other golfers to keep up with the group in front of        them.
   2. Are committed to not falling behind.

Any golfer who is willing to commit to the philosophy "I will keep up with the group ahead and not fall behind" can become a registered Pacesetter. If Pacesetters were the only players on the course, slow play would not be a concern.

Designated “Pacesetter Only” times will be available to registered Pacesetters beginning with the first time in the morning and continuing through the day as determined by the course. Only players that are committed to achieving the IDEAL PACE OF PLAY will be able to play in these times

Pacesetter Agreement

Pacesetters agree to maintain the proper position on the course. Pacesetters are ready to hit when the group ahead has cleared and are ready to hit when it's their turn to play.

Pacesetters agree that if their group has fallen out of position, their group will make every attempt to regain their proper position including picking up their balls and moving forward if necessary.

Pacesetters agree to encourage every member of their group to abide by the Pacesetter Agreement.

Pacesetters who fail to abide by these conditions may lose their Pacesetter benefits.

Pacesetter Benefits

As a registered Pacesetter you are entitled to:

Play during designated "Pacesetter Only" times established by the golf courses.

Play with or behind other pacesetters who care about the pace of play.
